I first had dealings with the team at Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) in 2005 when my three year old daughter was experiencing significant difficulties. It was my first experience as a parent of dealing with professionals outside of the standard needs of any child. I was nervous, did not know what to expect and was very protective of my child. This initial contact started us down a road that lead us to my daughter being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. It meant that she started school with a diagnosis and all of the understanding that goes with that. Although we have had twists and turns in the road since then, she is now a truly wonderful girl of thirteen thriving both socially and academically. I believe that early intervention has been vital to this outcome.
Having had such a positive experience with my daughter I did not hesitate to use the support of the Early Intervention Team, when it became apparent that my son was experiencing substantial challenges. I connected with ECIP before his formal diagnosis. I have found the entire team to be truly outstanding. They all take the time to really listen and extend their care and support beyond the clinical needs of the child. I have felt deeply supported by ECIP throughout my son’s diagnosis process and ongoing care. They are a wealth of knowledge, which is backed up by guest speakers, workshops information sessions and many other programs.
I came to live in the Coffs Harbour area, with two small children, in 2003 and have mixed with many other parents over the last twelve years. I have only ever heard positive things about ECIP, which I can say would be completely backed up by my own experience. I could not recommend ECIP more highly and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the support they have given to me and my family.
